The Origin Of The Trampoline

Trampoline is a competitive sport in which athletes perform acrobatic skills by bouncing off the trampoline, which belongs to a type of gymnastics. In the 27th Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, the trampoline was listed as an official event.

The history of trampolines can be traced back to the Comanche Indians of North America in the mid-19th century. The pioneer of the modern bouncy trampoline was French acrobat Tran Poland. He used hemp rope to weave a protective net to enhance the safety of the trapeze in the air swing, and used the elasticity of the net to throw actors into the air to complete various movements. At this time, the development of trampolines has already begun to take shape.

In the 1930s, American diving champion Nissen made a trampoline similar to today's to help his diving and flipping training, and later founded the Nissen Trampoline Company.

During World War II, the United States used trampolines to train pilots and navigators' positioning skills, and achieved good results. Later, it gradually became a sport and was widely carried out in middle schools and universities in the United States.

In 1947, the United States held the first national trampoline exhibition competition in Texas. It was included in the official competition in 1948 and later introduced to Europe. In 1958, the UK began to hold the All England Trampoline Championships. The first World Trampoline Championships were held in England in 1964. The first European Trampoline Championships were held in Paris, France in 1969. In 1999, the International Trampoline Federation became an association of the International Gymnastics Federation, and in 2000 the 27th Olympic Games became an official event. There are two individual events, male and female, with 12 athletes participating in each event.

From its origin, the trampoline has been favored by everyone because of its entertainment and practicality.
